Back Up Your Eudora Settings
! Before you upgrade your Eudora software, make a back up of your Eudora settings.
- Look in the Documents folder in your account.
- Find the Eudora Folder
- Click on the Eudora Folder and go to the Edit menu and select Copy Eudora Folder.
- Click on the Desktop and go to the Edit menu and select Paste Item.
This will place a copy of your Eudora folder on the desktop. If you simply drag the folder to the desktop, it will move your Eudora folder, not copy it.
Optionally, you can hold down the Option key and drag the folder to the desktop. You should see a green plus sign indicating you are dragging a copy, not the original.

Help. My settings are not in the new version of Eudora
If you launch your new Eudora application and it doesn't immediately find your old mail, address books, and settings - check the following things.
- Did you start up Eudora from an old alias? Try launching Eudora directly from the application in the Eudora Application Folder.
- Find the back up of your Eudora Settings. It should be on your desktop if you copied it there before you began your upgrade. If your Eudora Folder was not in the Documents folder during installation, then Eudora could not find it and may have created a new empty one in the Documents folder.
- Quit Eudora
- Go to your Documents folder and move the Eudora Folder somewhere other than your desktop. You do not want to overwrite your back up version.
- Move the backup Eudora Folder from your desktop into the Documents folder.
- Start up Eudora.
- Your old settings should now be restored.
- Did your settings and address books appear, but your mailboxes disappear?
- Go into the Eudora Folder found in your Documents folder. Are there files in here named In, In.TOC, Out, and Out.TOC?
- If so, move these four files into the Mail Folder found in the Eudora Folder.
- Start up Eudora and see if your mail returns.
